Question Stewie sleeps on his side...

Hi all!

My first post here and I thought I would ask about sleeping. My green cheek conure likes to sleep on me.. a lot! Not that I mind cause it is cute as all heck but I wondered if it was something all of the green cheeks do or if he is just "different". It's not the sleeping, it's how he sleeps. On his side, feet curled up, tucked in to my hand. See the pic I attached.

I have only had him about 2 months and he's been doing this probably more than half of the time. He bonded to me very quickly. He plays by chasing my hand or doing this duck and roll kind of thing, plays tug of war with anything I have in my hand, has to perch on my pony tail when he gets tired of playing and is always rolling on his back wanting me to rub his belly or under his wings. He's even doing the whole "your hand is my girlfriend" thing... I am sure you know what I mean.

He only does these things to the extreme with me but occasionally plays with others for a few minutes. When I say to the extreme I mean from the time he gets up until I make him go to bed (he would stay up 24/7 if I was up and I let him and is with/on me 3/4 of the time he is awake).

Anyhow, is the sleeping on his side like that normal?
Thanks!

You have a conure named Stewie too! Mine's not cuddly though - he still hates being touched.

My baby does the same thing, it's absolutely adorable. It makes me proud too, because I've only had him for a week and he trusts me like that.

Diego wants to stay up constantly too. He throws a fit when I turn the lights off for the night.

jen... I saw that. I spent a lot of the time reading the forums last night. I am sure he will come around you sound like a great mom! I think I just got verrry lucky with mine. He has been like this since the day he got home pretty much, just showing more and more craziness every day.

Niki, that is great to hear! Now I know I am not alone. lol Stewie does that too, at bed time. I am not sure what he does but he gets to the bottom of the cage after I cover him and makes the entire cage rattle and it's not a small cage. Then squeeks at me every time he hears me and this goes on for hours.

Aww, bless.

If you had him from a chick maybe he sees you sleeping on your side and decided to copy you?

I just showed Stewies' picture to my daughter and she thought he was DEAD!!! I have had three greencheeks and I have never seen any of them sleep like that. Mine always sleep standing up in their Happy Hut. Right now I have Tony and Carmela and they like to share theirs.

Wow... I guessed it was something common with the kind of bird or something. I have had other types and they never did that.

Yeah, he looks dead in the pic but trust me he's just napping! He hasn't seen me sleep so that isn't it but my rabbit sleeps on her back with her legs in the air (also looks dead and have had more than one person check to be sure she isn't lol) maybe he is copying her.

I got a happy hut thing for him today.. I think that is what it is. Triangle shaped furry thing. He has a fuzzy buddy that he leans against already, thought he might like to cuddle in it because of the way he sleeps on me but he wants nothing to do with it. Going to keep trying though. I bet if he gives in he'll love it.

I can't get over how cute that looks. He's like a little puppy instead of a bird. It's nice to see how he trusts and loves you.
