Question A little bit mixed up

Does anyone have a "mutt" or mixed conure? Does this happen much? My Jake seems to have some odd colored feathers for a full BCC and I was wondering if this is common or if he is mixed. He is getting some very bright and pretty red and yellow feathers on his nape. He is also getting a purple tint around his blue crown. I really don't care what kind of conure he is because I love him so much! But I was, well, wondering.....

I once heard about a nanday conure that suddenly started to grow in bright yellow feathers on the back of his head for an unknown reason... don't know why though they were given some explanation (don't remember it though).

I only have my cherry head conure, can't say if she is full blood or not though seems as if she is, even though she is supposedly a bit small for her type...

people tell me that my Peach front is a runt too! But he's healthy, so that's all I care about!
Don't know about hybrids in the conure world. Though I'm sure that there are some, heck, if their doing with macaws too.....

Yes they do hybridize Conures. It seems the most common ones are the Sun/Jenday hybrids and occasionally the Pyrrhura hybrid. Mis-colored feathers can happen from certain diseases, I believe. But no, your BCC shouldn't be getting yellow or orange feathers in. Do you have some pics?

No, I don't have any pics right now. I'll have to take some and post them. He seems very healthy and had a good health certification from his vet before we adopted him. I don't mind the different colored feathers as long as they aren't a sign of something bad. I was also wondering if he was mis-identified by the vet who rescued him from the cat mauling.

A Pic of Jake's red and yellow feathers.

I have a pic that I want to post in this thread, I just can't figure out how to do that! Does anyone know how the "insert image" thing works? I put the pic in my profile pics for now.

You can put the images as an attachment... Just go down to advanced reply, scroll down to Addition Options, then to Attach Files. Click on Manage Attachments and you'll be able to upload photos off of your computer.

Otherwise, you need to get the url of the image, and put it inbetween two img tags, such as this:

[img]url of image[/img]

Talking

Here are the pictures of my Jake. You can see the two feathers that are on his nape. There is a yellow one and a red one. I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't missing something important or that I needed to take him to my vet. He just has the two right now. Can this happen from stress? As he was a foundling, we have no breed information on him. He loves us and we love him, so I don't care what kind of conure he is, as long as he is healthly!

Sometimes yellow feathers can happen after a plucking thing, or after some types of medication. One of my red ekkie girls has a green feather that comes back each time after her molt. It's sorta like a birthmark.
