It seems odd to me.
I've tried taking my GCC in the shower with me several times, and I get so worried. I take cold showers so he doesn't overheat, and still, it looks as though he'll faint. He lulls his head back, closes one eye, and starts breathing strangely. It's not a content fluff up thing. He looks miserable. And I don't even get him wet.
I doubt he's sick, because he's absolutely vibrant and playful any other time of the day.

Maybe he just doesn't like the shower? Mine doesn't want to bathe in anything other than his little metal water bowl. Even though I got him one that is 4 times that size. He drinks from the big one and bathes in the small. Won't do the sink at all. I haven't even attempted the shower.

i would try filling up a dish or a little water in the sink and giving him the option to bathe.. that way he can sort of control how wet he gets... sometimes shadow LOVES baths, sometimes he HATES it..
heres a VERY low quality (my old cell phone) video of shadow taking a bath on a day when he was loving it.. ![]()

Hello i have had my 3mo.old conure for about a month now and he loves baths and i give them to him almost everyday.I used to take my Budgie to the shower with me but he isnt here with me anymore. It sounds as tho he is resting by how u describe him sitting there one eye open and breathing funny tell me if im right(Leans backs breathes oddly and looks like he'll prolly fall backward.)LOL my GCC does this too but only when he's resting or about to go to sleep and yea it looks like their breathing funny only because thier leaning backward and it's almost like their body moves with each breath.I bet he is relaxed when he hears the water and is resting,I bath my GCC in my HANDS i cup them and set a small tiny stream of perfect temp water and then he goes at it when he crawls up my arm or sits there he's done.LOL

Hey there,
Mine takes showers with me no problem, but when it comes time to lathering up, I remove him to a perch outside the shower area. These little guys are very sensitive to perfumes and essential oils. It could be what you are using to wash with is making him sick? Don't know, and I admit, I am overly cautious after reading so many horror stories about people killing/poisoning their birds with essential oils, pefumes and the dreaded teflon! Does your little Green Cheek do this if you use a gentle spray bottle with just straight warm water? I hope you figure this out. It's not only fun, but a real time saver if you can shower with them.

I think it's possible that he's enjoying the shower too.
Lukey (not a conure) has become completely relaxed in an outdoor shower where she closed her eyes and looked drugged. (in a good way) I sure am glad the question was asked anyway, because the pictures and videos were hilarious! Thanks everyone for the entertainment.
