So I got Scooter, Rusty's cagemate
Rusty and Scooter were in the same cage, save for the divider between the two. Right now, they are in separate cages and, if I keep Scooter, will find a divider for my current cage (which is 30x15x36" tall).
Both are very happy with humans. At the store, both perched as close to each other as possible. Each had one puny toy play with. Rusty is very energetic; even hyper. Scooter is a bit reserved. Rusty loves tricks (hanging upside down, etc) and nibbling at coconut fiber strands and other things. Hard. Scooter loves cuddling, and nibbling at leather and other things. Soft. Rusty doesn't take to toys as readily as Scooter does. That especially amazed me. Rusty will accept long scratching periods after feeling calm in my hand; my finger nipped. Scooter looooooooooves being scratched; not much need to ask is required once his initial shyness is overcome. Rusty is a Cinnamon GCC. Scooter is a regular GCC with a lot more blue highlights than I would have expected in a GCC. Both live in my apartment with me, and both like to look at and imitate the parrotlets' chirps. And the combined volume is remarkably low; worst in early evening, but it amazingly tolerable for conures. Even they couldn't begin to out-scream one Sun conure. Hopefully I won't have any territorial disputes, but they are behaving themselves. |
