Rusty came back today!!

He's home and VERY happy to see me!

Unfortunately, unlike at petco, he and Scooter no longer get along.

Also, when comparing the feathers on the two, Rusty's are in neat order - very handsome. Scooter's aren't what I'd call "fluffed", but they are standing out a little. Sometimes his droppings are a little loose too.

The parrotlets are healthy as always.

Scooter will see the vet on June 5, unless things get to a certain point when I become too worried. Still, having seen Rusty in a well groomed state, I have to wonder. Especially as Scooter is still skittish if not more so, but he has taken a toy I showed him and uses it to vent anger.

And for hating each other, Scooter picked up Rusty's "come here!" call and uses it when Rus calls too! That does get a bit loud, so I might have to return Scooter in the end... he is otherwise shy and content to play with toys and I love 'em both, so I'm hoping they won't be excessively loud.

I saw his droppings. A lot of liquid with bits of solid within. Very little white.

How long has he been home with you?
Did his diet change between the petstore and home?
Rusty and Scooter are possibly having some territorial issues as well.
Since Scooter is now coming into Rusy's territory.
We have to introduce new toys on the play perch or else buy two of the same thing.
If not the fighting starts. They're like little kids sometimes.

He probably just needs some time to get settled in and feel comfortable.
Good Luck

Sans the 1 week hospital time (broken toenail/infection), I've had Rusty 3 weeks.

I've had Scooter just 1 week. His diet HAS changed; from all seed-based to seed+pellet, and I have seen him drink water. He was also very shy at the pet store, so even with his liking of me, he still has his own fears.

Because Rusty was good enough to bring home, but is getting a follow-up in 3 weeks (his stool is much better, but still a little loose), I will not keep both birds in the same cage. And both have had problems together since bring them in together.

I'll keep Scooter a while longer, but he will go back if he and a now healed Rusty get too loud when calling back and forth. Both are quiet on their own; the screaming isn't too often...

if you were bothered about screaming, you shouldn't have gotten a conure! :)

Oh, I would never get a Sun or Jenday conure for an apartment...

So far, the two GCCs have been boisterous at times, but not deafeningly loud. I think they will work out together; even my senegal parrot was able to belt out some loud screams...
