Hi! I don't think you can go wrong with a green cheek. I love our little guy! Tiko is 15 months old now and is much better than when he was a baby. He still gets nippy once in a while, but I just put him in a "time out" and that sets him straight. He is so funny and can talk a bit. He's not much of a snuggler, but likes to be held and hang out with us. Good luck with your decision!

The Green Cheek Conures make great, loving pets! My Jasper is about 10 years old. Most birds are a little nippy when they first come home with a new person, but after about a week of loving handling, most calm down and love their humans!

We've had Jasper since she was a baby and couldn't be happier with her.

I figure as long as no one gets hurt they can play their stupid little game!

LoL that's funny! That's how it would probibly be with me and my boyfriend!

Sounds like me, want every bird you see.

Me and my wife are both bird lovers, and she totally understands that alex is my #1 girl LOL.
Alex hates, and I mean really hates her. I think its her hair that gets alex all mad since she has big curly hair. Alex don't like females at all anyway, but its just something about my wife she don't like extra amounts.

With that said, your favorite bird the african grey can be very one personed. I know mines a little firecracker.

I have two GCCs. I love them both dearly. They are the most comical, lovable little things. You should really start out with just one though, otherwise they may bond more strongly to one another than to you. I had Archer about 6 months longer than Kira, so he still a lover. He doesn't desire as much attention as he did when he was an only 'cheek, but he knows who loves him.

Archer doesn't like my husband at all. Unfortunately, my husband thinks it's funny and doesn't want anything to do with him anyway, so I don't see that changing.

Kira spent too long in a pet store, so she's timid. She will only let me hold her on her terms, and even then she'd like people to think she's dying.

They're both 5 years old and very happy. They also make me very happy. :)
I don't think anyone can go wrong with a GCC, but that's my opinion and I'm biased. lol

Green Cheeks....AWESOME!!

My Midori is 6 months old now, we've had her for almost 2 months, she is wonderful! More like a dog than a bird. In one afternoon I taught her to Shake, wave, roll over and fetch. She is so wonderful and loving and more than I ever imagined. I thought when I got a bird I wanted a talker....that is the least important thing to me now!! I would highly reccommend one! I love them!!!

Ya I TOTALLY agree with you. Talking should be the least of your worries. And Plus I have to listen to "HEPL!, Hello?, Tickle Tickle Tickle!, Gimme Hi Five!, Whatcha Doin?" ALL DAY LONG!!!!! LoL. We have like 5 talking birds and 12 screamers in the Store I work in. LoL

we've had our pineapple green cheek since April. She is 4 months old now. She is a nice bird. She has tested us a couple of times with nipping but responds very well to a verbal correction. She would prefer to be *my* bird but she lets all in the family handle her. She doesn't have as much patience with my little ones (18 mo and 4yo) as she does with the older kids and hubby and me but we all like her. One thing I do see with her is that she is skittish of new things. The kids came in with a small inflatable beach ball the other day and the alarms went off! Balloons get the same reaction. She will avoid new toys and foods and is very cautious of them. It takes her a while to develop a comfort zone. Don't know if that is typical GCC behavior or not. She doesn't seem frightened of people at all.

Well I'm sure any bird no matter what kind or age would freak out at a beach ball or balloon. But All of them are different. Green cheeks mate for life don't they?
