Peach Front Vs Orange Front(aka Half Moon)

The breeder I contacted already sold their peach front, but 3 half moons were offered to me( I wouldn't take all three, just one). She said the only difference between them were the beak colors. I know from reading about them that orange front conures are a bit smaller. How similar are their personalities? Trainability? Vocalizations/loudness? I thought I read somewhere they were supposed to be loud like a sun...maybe I'm wrong.

Thanks!

Half moons are wonderful. You are so lucky to have 3 to choose from. They are very hard to find where I live.

Kermit can be loud but usually just her morning flock call. My ear does ring if she lets out a scream on my shoulder but I'm not sure a peach front wouldn't be any different that close to your ear.

She loves people but at the same time is content to sit on her playstand for long periods of time. She was talking when we brought her home at 4 months. At 4 months she said "hello Kermit" & "step up". Now she says numerous things: c'mere, hey baby, what, look Kermit, monkey, monkeybutt, kisses, scratches, and more. Everyone that walks in my house falls in love with her.

If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask.

Here are some pics of her:

She is adorable! Was she published in a Bird Talk Magazine? How do you think her noise level is compaired to a GCC?

The breeder has one baby that is available now (I could get as soon as next week) and 2 that are only 2 weeks old, so they wouldn't be ready for awhile. Decisions, decisions...

Yes, she was in Bird Talk. I believe it was Aug. 2007 she was mentioned in an article & she was also in the May 2008 with a picture.

As far as noise goes, I personally don't think she's very bad. We have a new green cheek baby & she's pretty good at competing with Kermit. She doesn't yell constantly. I can guarantee you that I will hear her Sat. morning. She usually waits until about 8am and then she feels that I should get up. I had a quaker years ago & she is quieter than my quaker was. The difference is that the quaker would compete with the television & my husband hated that, Kermit doesn't compete with the television. Usually if she is screaming during the day I come running because it means something has scared her.

Kermit is 4 now and I adore her. She has been to visit a number of classes at school. She always puts on a good show for the kids. She travels well, my parents live 5 hours away and she always goes with us. If we go camping I board her with the vet & they love her too. I have 3 children, who are currently all 11, and I feel that she is a wonderful family bird.

I don't know very much about peach fronts so I wasn't able to compare but I feel if you go and meet these babies you will definitely fall for one, if not all three. I have been a member of another board for over 4 years and there are 3-4 other people on the board with half moons, it seems that they all have similar experences as mine. Most of them have males who all talk. Kermit is a dna female and I feel that she is a really good little talker. She likes to put her words together in different orders such as: "c'mere, c'mere, it's okay, step up Kermit". She also laughs & barks like a dog. If she sees a spider or other insect she will tilt her head & growl.

As you can see I think she's perfect. I will warn you though she is not cuddly, I can scratch her & pet under wings but she does not cuddle like a sun or green cheek.

I forgot to mention one of my favorite things, her pupils dilate when she's happy or excited. It reminds me of some of the bigger birds.

Kermit sounds adorable! I've contacted the breeder letting her know I'm interested, so we'll see how it turns out. I'll keep you posted!

Both are Aratinga's, so the noise level would be comparable with each other. If anything the peach fronted may be a bit louder. The half moon is slightly smaller than the peach fronted. As far as trainability, I've yet to see any conure, pyrhurra or arantinga that was terribly hard to train. Just seem to be fairly easy to train them with time and patience. Clicker training seems to work well with our little cgcs, as well as our other fids.

Kermit is such a pretty conure, and you take great pics.
I don't know why I always get attracted to those bare eye rings :)
I see that Kermit's are yellow. Very pretty.
