Having a debate

Hello, here is my dilemma, maybe you could provide advice for me.
I own a sun conure, he is my first bird i've ever owned and I love him dearly. But I would also like to add 1 more bird to the "flock". I dont want more than 2 because I fear that more than that would take attention away from others, but with 2 I can provide plenty of love an attention to both.
What I am wanting to adopt is a larger bird preferably a macaw or cockatoo.
I am very willing to adopt mistreated birds as I believe it is a very nice thing to do as no animal should be mistreated.
I am currently unemployed but actively seeking new employment. I will not even consider purchasing a new bird untill I have steady income to take care of them both. (my sun is still well taken care of as I live with my family and am receiving unemployment pay from my last job).

What I would like to know is which bird would be best for me to get ( keeping in mind my preference of a macaw or a cockatoo ) Im not picky on what type of macaw / cockatoo , just the species. I am mainly looking for a bird who will be social and can interact with my sun.

It will be a rare Macaw or Too that can interact with a small Sun Conure. Im not saying never but it is rare and dangerous so dont use that as your base for choosing. Plan on it NOT happening. I always say match beak size to beak size when trying to create "playmates". A macaw or Larger Too can kill your sun in one chomp or worse mutilate him to suffering.

Maybe a Hahns macaw... they are about the same size. Mini Macaws are alot of fun... they have the same personality as the larger Macaws only in a smaller package. I agree with Huntress though... dont look for a buddy for your Sun... that may never happen. Do some research on some of the different types of birds you may be interested in and ask somes questions to those on the board who may be owned by that particular type of bird that you may be interested in.

I wouldn't necessarily be letting them play together because of the size difference, I just wanted something that would vocally interact well because my sun loves when you speak to him. It doesn't have to be able to speak enlgish just something that can "chit chat" with him while im out of the room.
I would definitely have to have separate " out of cage time " for the both of them but the cages would be placed in the same room.

A Hahn's isn't that much bigger than a sun. I had been considering a Hahn's as a possible companion for Stewie and it seemed like it could work. I ended up not choosing a Hahn's because of the particular bird, but the species seems awesome.

Here's a pic of two best buds that I found during my research (but keep in mind that it's all about individual personalities and not just matching up specific species):
