Identify this conure

We bought this little baby from the pet shop under the assumption that it was either a sun conure or a gold cap conure. The owner couldn't tell us for sure, and we don't know either. Can anyone with experience settle it once and for it. What conure is this?

Its either a Jenday, Gold Capped or a Sun... both look alike until after they get older and molt a couple of times. He is very cute though.

Congrats on your baby. Often you can't tell till they are older. I'm glad you bought the little guy because it looks like you are taking good care of it. Personally I think the pet store is not very eithical for not knowing what kind it is and for selling it before weaning. Glad he/she is in good hands.

A pet store that sells an unweaned baby bird and doesn't even know what species it is...? Geez. I agree with hollyhawkz - that's not very cool of them. But thanks for taking good care of her. Hopefully you've got some resources/help in case there are problems with the handfeedings...?

agree - looks like a sun to me....

and agree again - selling unweaned baby birds is unethical to begin with, and then they don't even know which bird it is?! *shakes head*

congrats on the addition - got a name yet?

thanks for the response guys, actually we're waiting on the DNA test to officially name it. we'll make sure to let you guys know. it's exactly 1 month and 2 wks old. actually the pet store guy is a good friend of ours and he actually took it off the hands of a guy who apperantly just wanted to make a quick buck and obviously knew nothing about the bird. he called us and we couldn't resist. the bird wasn't healthy at all and he took good care of it till we took him, and now he's healthy as ever. he's very active and oh so loud lol. we've read up so much good info online and keep him very happy. he's pretty much become part of the family
