Smile Guess who is home?

Well as some of you may already know, I lost the very first bird that I ever had back in January. She was a Blue Crowned Conure named "Roxie." She in my heart is irreplaceable (sp?). The smartest, funniest little bird ever. I still cry when I think about her... I miss her very much. Well, we purchased (I tried to rescue one but I coundnt find one) a baby Blue Crowned Conure a couple of months ago (she was a naked little chicken back then) and have been waiting for her to get down to two feedings a day so we could bring her home. Today was that day... it was hard at first because she is in Roxies old cage. I did alot of crying when I got home with her. Anyhow, she is home and she is perfect and she has already crawled into her "Happy Hut" and called it a night. She will be three months old on July 7, 2008. She already talking and says "Hello", "Come On", "What", "Good Boy", "What are you doing?", "No No" and "Erin" (that being one of the people who hand fed her). We have visited her everyday since we bought her and now I am so glad shes home because now I dont have two spend two hours a night up at the bird store after work... I can finally go straight home. We named her "Keeva" which is gaelic for "Beautiful / Precious." It is a bittersweet ending to the sadness I have felt since January. I promise to post some pics as soon as I can. I think she is gonna be magnificent.

Congratulations!
Having a way too close call today with a happy hut I can't imagine ever loosing my little love. The good thing is you have more than enough love in your heart for another little featherd angel. Keeva is a wonderful name! Kelly, I think you are both going to be magnificent!

I heard and yes you did have a close call there. Smart bird ya got to stay still and not panic. Thanks for the warm wishes. Its been a long road to this point, but I think I am ready. Blue Crowns are wonderful personalities to have around, they are my personal favorite. Just ask anyone who has or ever had one. Me personally I miss the noise... thats the hardest part when you lose one. You miss their voice, their calls... it was very hard. I cant wait til the sun comes up to hear her morning call... even though it will be for the baby formula. But hey, thats ok. I miss that "Aratinga" sound.

There is a blue crowned for sale on our local kijiji (vancouver, BC) for $600... I am so soooo tempted. I wan't a buddy for Wawa our Black Capped Conure, But $600. sheesh. They are great! Wawa is just a little Pyrrhura, but lungs like a Macaw LOL. I would miss the silence so terribly. I'm happy for you that you are finally ready for another Blue Crowned. I love all parrots, but Conures..they are such little so and so's you can't help but love them big time.
Can't wait to see pictures!!!
