Me and My Husband call them "Army Pigeons"... cause thats what they look like. They are very LARGE conures and very social and excellent talkers. The Bird Store up the street has babies now. They usually get two or three of them each spring and they dont last very long.

<thinks about the fact that she now has a cage like this one that is empty:
Mahalo ManorTM Playtop40" X 30" X 75"**Free Shipping!**: BIRDCAGES4LESS.com >

<thinks about the fact that she lives in Virginia... and as a member of SWVBC, knows Phoenix Landing well>

<thinks about the fact that her daughter pointed out just the other day that it would be unfair to get any more birds right now as the ones we have are still new and need some work>

<sighs>

Hi all! I got a Patagonian a few months ago! First bird ever.

I am in love....but DAMN does he scream. He is absolutely perfect in every other way, we are working on the screaming and have high hopes that we can get it under control.

He is such a sweet guy (we think he's a guy anyway) with a BIG personality. He is very close to talking, mumbles and makes cool sounds. When I'm working on my computer and start humming to music, he hums too. He just melts my heart.

His photo and his story are in my profile. :^)

I've got a cage question I'm going to post in a bit - I see lots of cage posts, but none about a Patagonian. I'm sure I'll have lots of other questions as this is my first 'fid.' So glad I found Bird Board!

I agree that they look like pigeons lol.

As for Conures - any therein - that are 'carriers' of Pachecos... This was prevalent in imported stock. Since there has been a ban since 1992 (I think), the majority of that stock and most especially the infected ones have long since died off. Conures are no longer considered carriers of import diseases anymore than any other birds in individualised incidences.
