oooh you must be excited! they are lovely wee birds i had a lovely morning with pepper and a biting breakthrough. i didn't let her on my shoulder and instead gave lots of snuggles and scritches while she was perched on my finger and she even let me lay her on her back for a little while. she only tried to bite once so i did the little earthquake and it worked a treat.
the next thing i need to try to tackle is her squawking when i'm not in the room, i would ignore her and then go in and praise her when she's quiet but the problem is that she doesn't get quiet and she's in the kitchen so sometimes i need to go in there to get something for the kids so i don't want her to think i'm responding to the squawks, what do i do?

is it ok for pepper to eat a little crust of wholemeal toast (with no butter)

Bread is fine! Whole wheat is best. I found this great book you might want to check out called The Healthy Bird Cookbook: A Lifesaving Nutritional Guide and Recipe Collection by Robin Deutsch. It has full lists of all of the 'human' foods that birds can eat and contains fun recipes especially for your bird! I made a list of all of the bird safe foods and put it on the wall near my bird's cages so I can quickly tell which foods they can or can't eat.
