They're sneaky! Usually they're extroverts about breeding, doing it out in the open all hours of the day lol. Haven't seen them even breed lately, but clearly they did lol. We have 3 fertile eggs now and figure she'll lay another tonight or tomorrow.

She's such a good mommy. When she's sitting her eggs, she sings constantly. Happily, musical chittery sounds. Daddy pretty much paces his cage looking lost LOL.

Aww congrats. I can't wait to see the babies.

How long do they lay eggs? I mean in days in a row?

On average, every 48 hours, but this girl is a notorious 'waiter' and lays every third day. An average clutch is 3-5 eggs. I'm wincing a bit at the timing, as it's going to be pushing over 100 degrees this week. We have automatic misting and the aviary is shaded and circulated, but it's going to be very hot for those eggs. I might pull them and incubate.

I'm glad to hear someone taught your conures that discretion is the better part of valor in regard to their breeding habits. Just joking.

In all seriousness, I hope all goes well with this clutch. I can't even imagine how cute a baby sun conure could be. Please keep us up-to-date on any and all developments.

Last year, my 12 year old niece came over and we let her play with this particular pair of suns when they're not breeding, because both are extremely tame and loving, and they adore little kids. I bring the birds out of the aviary and into the house for a bit, and set them on a play stand. My niece settles down to talk to them and pet their feathers. So, I chat with the other adults and soon I hear "Auntie Tina, what are they doing?". I look over and they're breeding on the playstand! LOL I just said "Uhhmm.. they're wrestling." And, my daughter goes "Omg, no they're not, they're doing the naughty!" /blush

Suns = hedonists
