first of all - what kind of bird is lola, and then how old is the little girl?
a young bird will still have baby plumage, and probably molt right now... then the adult plumage will come in and some of the "not so feathered" spots will be filled.

Birds don't tend to have AS MUCH feathers under their wings as other places... however if they are bare underneath the wings, or down only, then it could be a sign of picking...
