Wink Mutants! O_O

Hey all, I don't post here much, but I just thought I'd share some pretty conure mutations I found while online! I'm not 100% on the names/species, I'm more of a 'too girl myself, but nevertheless...

Like this lovely red factor sun conure... Theres' alot of green there on the wing, but I'm pretty sure thats' a sun.

I think this is a blue mutation of a halfmoon conure. I'm open to correction though!

Aaand pretty sure this is a violet/blue factor green cheek.

Turqoise... cinnamon? Not too sure.

This is apparently a mutation of a black-capped conure. Not sure what its' called.

Thats' all I can think of for now... But what other pretty/rare mutations have you guys come across? What is your take on these mutations? Is it necessarily irresponsible for these mutations to be bred, can their be genetic problems later in life?
The red sun is pretty amazing, in my opinion

The last one looks like a GCC as well. Those blue half-moons are so cute =]

Also. Jendays look exactly like suns,, but with green wings.. Am I correct? I have a jenday. I've seen pics of suns. Suns wings are yellow with the green at bottom

Yes - but I thought if it was a young sun, it would have more green than an adult... I thought jendays had green all over the wing and on the back - but the top of the wing doesn't look green so I just assumed a sun.
You may be right though, as I said, conures aren't really my speciality. Just like I'm now wondering if the second ones' a blue mutation of a halfmoon, or a peachface... Can't see the head of the normal colouration well enough to tell and this monitors' dodgy D:

Yes suns start off looking like Jendays.. full grown suns have yellow wings :) there is a thread on here posted recently showing the pictures of one in it's stages. I thought it was cool.

Top: Red factor sun. Some say pure sun, some say Sundays that are held back and bred to other Sundays that are very red with yellow on wings.

Second: Looks like a mutation of the half-moon, and if it's from Vorens, it's most likely a true mutation.

Next: "Turquoise" Par blue mutation of a GCC - spitting image of my pairs.

Third: "Turquoise" Cinnamon par blue GCC

Last: Looks like either a Vorens bred black cap, or a hybrid painted/yellow-sided. A lot of those hybrids happened when they started to import the yellow-sided mutation of the GCC to establish the colour genetics and see if it was a natural hybrid or a true colour mutation.

I don't think it's irresponsible for mutations to be bred. Hybrids can be irresponsible though. My only concern for colour mutations is that the natural bird may be weeded out in time so natural colourations become difficult to find.

I've come across red and lutino CAGS, cinnamon blue and gold macaws, lutino macaws, blue amazons... there are a lot out there. I think Monica has a website with pics of mutations! If she sees this post, she might post it, I can't remember the link.

The red factor suns are amazing to me -- WHEN and IF they can prove 100% without doubt that they're pure suns and not Jenday mixes. Until that happens, they're all Sundays to me.

Actually... the lady that originally breed them admits that they are Sundays. I will have to re-find the article.

Sorry if I repeat stuff, just clarifying for sure!

First image is that of a young red factor sun conure. I've heard they are also actually 'sundays', but then we also have red factor african greys, or pied african greys, that are not hybrids!

Suns and Jendays do infact look quite similar as chicks, but as they mature, suns grow in yellow wing feathers... "Jensuns" or "Sundays" may be hard to tell they are hybrids as they may appear very much like jendays.

Here's more on Red Factor Suns as well as Suns vs Jendays
Red Factor Suns
Jenday or Sun Conure

The second image is indeed those of Voren's Blue Mutation Orange Fronted (aka Half Moon) conures!

Tina is absolutely correct about the green cheek mutations! (as far as I know, at least!)

Below is an image of four greencheeks... First is a normal, second is a yellowside, third is a cinnamon, and fourth is a pineapple (aka cinnamon yellowsided).

But as far as the last bird, that's another of Vorens, that is correct Tina, it is a Voren Strain Mutation Black-capped Conure...

As for breeding mutations being irresponsible? That depends on the mutations, and whether or not the mutations arrived via hybridisation (such as those mutations found in Alexandrian Parakeets, many are supposedly from being crossed with Indian Ringnecks). Once a hybrid, always a hybrid! Mutations, are, after all, a part of domestication (think of dogs) as well as evolution (how we get various species).

Here's another one of Vorens... the Blue Mutation Dusky!

Here's a list of mutations, although please bear in mind that some of the links could be dead... I've updated it somewhat, too, but haven't checked to see if all links are still valid... and of course there are more mutations out there!!!!
