Not allowed in my shirt anymore
All summer, Stewie's been more and more interested in being inside my shirt and I've let him. I hear it's a sun conure thing and it's so cute that he actually wants to cuddle with me. But I think it makes him aggressive. He gets kinda nippy and today he clamped down on my thumb hard and wouldn't let go... he was so excited that I don't think he realized the thing he was holding hostage was attached to me. Does climbing into a shirt sleeve, etc, make a bird hormonal. Is this broody behavior that I'm encouraging?
I'm putting a moratorium on the "shirt nesting" either way, but I'd just love to know why he gets that way.

I would think they get "happy" like in a "happy hut"
My suns remind me of those eels, hiding in their holes. And if suns are allowed to rule some turf, like a street gang, they get aggressive. just a little off topic, but what kind of Pi do you have? I've found myself liking Pi's more than conures. |

My GCC does that, he loves going inside through my collar and then resting inside my sleeve.
Mine can get aggressive if someone else tries to touch him while he is in my shirt, my guess is he thinks they want to remove him so he throws a hissy fit.

I must have the most bestest Sun ever!
Mine does not scream, does not put holes in shirts, doesn't even LIKE seeds, and will let me pull her out of her happy-hut any time I like. I guess I could say that on the downside: She REFUSES to be trained, is not very snuggly, and is quite the escape artist! |

Funny how different in personalities or individual quirks our birds are. The ironic thing is that when he's in that "nest-y" mode (although I'm not sure that's what it is) is the ONLY time I can touch him. The last time he actually let me scratch his head... maybe he didn't even realize what was going on, but there's no way I can touch his head any other time. The general nippiness that accompanies his snuggle time isn't really directed at anything, so he's not trying to bite me. But, alas, while I like the snuggles and the ability to touch him, it's not worth it if I'm getting him riled up or he's going to chomp down on me.

My sun does the same thing. He'll crawl all around inside my shirt and in and out of my sleeves. He usually settles down and pokes hit head out of my colllar to sit and watch what im doing.
