Question about my new Sun

Hey everyone.

Earlier today I got my first sun conure from a local store in Knoxville called Strictly feathers. They deal specifically with birds only and breed different kinds. This baby was hatched in mid-april, making her almost four months old.

She's warmed up to my whole family, and my GCC (Roy), alot, but she seems to have little cordination with the use of her feet. She can step up, but seems wobbly and doesn't move around her cage too much. When she's out of the cage, however, she's all over the place!

I was just wondering if that sort of clumsy with their feet behavior is normal in babies, or not. My GCC who is about 7 months old seems to be alot more coordinated. I got him a month ago or so, and he never seemed to have this problem.

I got my Sun when he (she maybe, not sexed.. haha) was 8 weeks old. He was the same way until he got older. I think it's a strength thing. When we first got him, his grip felt weak and he had a tough time moving around the cage. He's 8 months old now, and hangs upside down with one foot. He even leaves trails of little red dots on my hand as he crawls around. As your Sun gets older, I'm sure his grip will strengthen up, and he'll be climbing like a champ.

thanks for the reassurance..lol

like i said, when we got our GCC was about 6 months or so old when we got him, so we never had to deal with that issue with him. The sun (still debating on a name), is still in that skittish phase which is understandable since we just got her yesterday. Hopefully in the next few weeks she will come around.
