Black Capped Conure

Hi everyone, I live in Apartments and I want to know how loud are they? Are they REALLY loud? Or just a little bit here and there? I'm thinking of buying one in the next 2 days! Thanks in advance!

I've only met a few black capped conures, but I wouldn't say they are any louder than a green cheek conure. My conure Ori is a peach front conure, (one of the quieter conures) and he can make your ears ring! I don't think any conures would do well in an apartment because they all get VERY loud sometimes, especially to someone not used to having birds around.

My black capped is a quiet parrot as far as parrots go. My Green Cheek was 10X's the noise maker and they are considered quiet.
Black Caps (from my experience) tend to be more active and are smaller than the other conures. My BCC is about the size of a large LoveBird. With the right amount of attention they will be very cuddly and always wanting to be around you. They are very curious and very playfull. I love mine. He is a right clown.

We have a black capped and live in an apartment/condo. He is fine. Noisy at times, but the sound does not ring your ears like the larger conure! Congratulations on getting a black capped. They are my absloute favorite! You just got your self a huge parrot in a small package!!!!

I have one too named Kacy and I lived in an apartment too. In my opinion, Black Capped Conures are really friendly and fun loving birds. Kacy sure can get very loud if she wants to, but she's really quiet most of the time.

In comparison with my lovebird, Kiki, Kiki seems to be the chattery and the noisy one whereas Kacy is the quiet one. But in terms of loudness, Kacy calls definitely way louder than Kiki's but probably with much lower pitch and lacks abit of shrillness.

Generally, she's quite a suitable candidate in an apartment environment and my neighbors had never made any complains.

BTW, everyone has a different perspective in noise tolerance, so probably it's always best to meet one and experience the vocalizing strength and see whether a Black Capped is suitable.

Jessica -- no worries! That baby black-capped conures is ADORABLE!

I have seen GCCs come up for rehome specifically due to noise complaints. But then again, I've seen that for just about every species of parrot, with the exception of budgies and parrotlets.

FWIW, I've had pyrrhura conures in general recommended to me on so many occasions. I've even had some people tell me that their cockatiel is louder than their pyrrhura conure! IMO, I think that in most situations, a pyrrhura (green-cheeked, maroon-bellied, black-capped, etc.) will do fine in an apartment/condo/duplex/townhome.
