Molt - plucking . ??

Okay, so. My sisters parrotlet is still plucking my GGC Cookie, although he seems to have stopped plucking himself ( i've only noticed that he shredded some of his new tail feathers ? . ) . by poor Cookie was soo beautiful when i got her on christmas, and now the poor thing is part bald !. Toc ( the parrotlet) is mostly plucking cookies head, and recently started his back. I've tried getting toys, but im going to try new ones to distract him. I dont know if this would be any good, but what about cat toys with feathers to distract him with ? . Also, i think Cookie is going to start molting soon because Toc has already started, and i had an idea but im not sure it will work. I cant spearate them permanatly because Toc is extremly bonded with Cookie, and goes crazy when they're just in different rooms. But i was wondering if maybe i separated them while Cookie molts ( in separate cages next to each other ) that if after COokie's got all his new feathers maybe Toc would forget about plucking him ? And of course after i put them back together i would supply them with alot of new Toys to chew. Its just an idea, what do you guys think ? .

I wish i could figure out why Toc plucks Cookie !. So far i cant think of anything. they have lots of Toys, a big cage that they barely spend any time in , i interact with them for at least 2 hours a day (they would rather be with each other, though ) and i've started feeding them a variety of fruits and vegetables aevery day !, Cookies loving the new foods, but TOc wont try any. when i hold them out to him he like attacks them, bites chunks off and throws them until its gone . I dont know if he just feels the urge to destroy anything and everything around him , including Cookies feathers, or if he's just gone crazy or what !? . i just cant think of anything else to do . I'm worried that pretty soon Cookie wont have any feathers left! (although that would stop the plucking issue . :P )

Seperate them... Why are they in the same cage if there is a problem.. Seems like a simple solution to me.

i agree with lali - getting them into separate cages placed next to each other is probably the best way to go

They are in the same cage to begin with because their previous owner put them together when they were babys and now they are two and three and VERY bonded, they go crazy when the others left the room, and im scared that if i separate them now, Tocs problem will get even worse ( because he plucked himself when he was a baby because he was alone and in a tuny cage by himself at the home of an overstocked breeder) .

How would i go about separating them if the dont even want to be in a different room for each other ? THey love each other, They 're not fighting, i think Tocs just got like a compulsive plucking pproblem or something. Because other than that they get along PERFECTLY.

yeah dont put them totally seperate just seperate cages next to each other that way they can still see each other and talk to each other but cant pluck the other and then just give them a little play time together each day but once the one starts to pluck the other than end the play time for that day

Okay, i'm already looking for another cage for Toc, i was just worried about even separating into separate cages next to each other with them so bonded. But its worth a try, thanks.

Wow that's a hard one, but if you let it go too far there will be permanent damage to the feather follicles and the conure will be bald forever. I'm glad you are finding a cage to go beside that one. At least they can still have play time together when supervised.
