First Trick..

Will Tiki has been fitting in very well..but he does seem to love me a bit more. He likes to run out of the front top door and then run to the back outside of his cage. After chasing him round and round I started to says "tiki come" and he would stop and look at me but not come.

Then I thought he really likes giving kisses...so...I then said "Tiki Kisses" and he came running up the cage to give me a ton of kisses.

So thinking he might only be doing it on his cage, I tested it out tonight. He was on my husband and I sid his name "Tiki", he looked at me then I said "kisses" (no kisses face mothion just the word) He came running accross the couch, had to figure a way up to my mouth and gave me kisses. We have not used any treats for this, there is not much he seems to like. It is like his reward is giving the kiss.

It is really cute, I need to get it on video. I hope this isnt a fluke and he keeps paying attention to words, cuz we are trying. My daughter is working on this trick too, he just does kisses on her cheek when she holds him.

How sweet. :) This may seem like a dumb question but how can you tell a kiss from him trying to preen?

I feel a kiss is right on my lips for a second or two and then goes to shoulder. And preen is when he cleans my hair, he starts right my scalp and licks the whole hiar to the end (which takes awhile, goes to the middle of my back) or he cleans my bangs.

But when I say kiss, he stops and comes to my mouth and does a lick lick and then stops. Does no seem like he is cleaning. I could be wrong.

It's not a good idea to allow birds to lick your mouth because of the saliva which can be harmful. Both my conures love kisses, but in their own ways... Noel will lean in to me and I'll kiss her beak (but she wont kiss back), while Charlie LOVES to give kisses, and even makes the sound, however, his kisses are normally given a little BITE to them... and I don't allow him to kiss me on the mouth... or even try to take food from my mouth for that matter...
