Thank you. You can see the stress bars (I think?) on some of her old feathers, which might've been caused by a month of fruit-only-diet. This creates even more contrast between the old duller/greener feathers and the new soft more brilliant colors. I'm glad you're enjoying the transformation photos :)

Edit: The contrast is more clear in this photo I just took. You can see small patches of extremely red/orange/yellow feathers surrounded by greener/duller areas. By the way, there is a TON of orange pin feathers on her chest, so I expect these green areas to start receding very quickly in a week or so.

I've found it difficult to capture all transforming areas in just one or two photos, so I took the chance while she was standing still watching the train to shoot a small video. (Also for some reason, my phone cam makes her look greener than she really is, as you can see in the video)

Carbon, what was her hatch date? I'm pleased to see the Yellow yellow if you know what I mean. My sun's yellow is kind of dingy.

Nara had some dingy yellow when I got her, but she was mostly green (one of the greenest babies I've ever seen). The yellow yellow didn't start coming in until about a month ago. She's ~ 5 months now.

Wow, that is really cool. Its almost like having a different bird. I had a Cherry Head once and I remember getting so excited when the red feathers started coming in. You will wake up one morning and you won't recognize your own bird! Nara is beautiful...BTW.

Thank you! If I haven't been seeing her every day for the last two weeks, it would've been difficult for me to believe it's the same bird (not really, but you know what I mean). It's happening so very fast now. I will keep this thread updated with photos. There's always questions about Sun transformations, so it might be a become a good resource, especially that Nara is on the greener end of the spectrum. I suspect it will take several molts before the yellow becomes more prominent on her wings and back. Or maybe not. I guess we'll find out!

Today I saw a big yellow pin feather on her back. This is the first one I see coming out on her back (as opposed to her feathers). Several new yellow ones appeared on both her wings as well.

Ok, so enough yellow feathers have emerged and are now visible over the green to warrant an update!

*Taking pictures of this bird is so damn frustrating! She won't stand still for a femtosecond. In the first one, I'm hiding the eye of the teddy bear (which she loves to chew) to get her to stick her head in there and be in the same location for more than 0.5 seconds...*
