Process Transformation Sun-Conurification Engaged!

About two weeks ago, Sunny started dumping a lot of greenish feathers from her head, chest, and under belly. Now she's full of pin feathers that are purely red on the sides of the face, orange on the head/underbelly, and yellow on the chest/back of her head. Nothing significant has been happening on the shoulders or the top side of the wings... until last night that is! Last night I noticed three extremely yellow feathers coming out on her left wing, and two on her right wing (almost symmetrical), with a lot more coming in on both sides.

That's it! The transformation has begun! Time to start taking weekly pictures for the transformation video!

(no flight feathers have fallen out yet, but I read somewhere that these don't molt at the same time the rest of the body feathers are molting. Is that accurate?)

For the sake of completeness, I am posting photos of Nara when she was much younger, way before the transformation started. I want you to notice how dark and solid GREEN her wings/back was, much like a jenday, with absolutely no yellow WHAT-SO-EVER. Her head, though seemingly yellow'ish in the second picture due to the lighting, was mostly orange with specks of green, as you can see in the other picture.

These pictures range between 2-3 months of age.

So many more feathers have come in she's almost starting to look like a totally different bird. However, today I noticed - for the first time - yellow feathers coming in towards the mid part of her wings, far from the shoulders. This is the first time I see any yellowing in that area. I will post pictures when they grow enough to be visible over the surrounding green ones. The process seems to be hastening at an increasing rate now, it's so exciting.

My gf is a little saddened by it because she says she liked the green on her wings and was hoping it would stay that way (maybe she was thinking Jenday?). I on the other hand am extremely amused by it and very excited to see the end result. She's becoming very very pretty very very quickly. I think one of the reasons this amuses me so much is because she was probably one of the greenest sun babies you'll ever see, which makes the transformation that much more drastic. Never seen anything like it in any other bird specie, and probably never will.

Finally a picture! I just snapped it right after her morning shower (cause that's when she sits still to dry and preen). It shows all the new yellow feathers on her head and chest, where greenish feathers existed in the past. Also, the red around her eyes is becoming more vibrant and possibly a darker shade of red. The new feathers are coming in soft and full of color, giving her a more seemless appearance. She's already looking very different from the front. The ones on her back and wings are still not long enough to show over the green, so maybe in next week's photos!

Thank you! I think, like xafsmom told me in another thread, she's going to be a very orange baby with a very red face. I'm burning with anticipation to see those firey colors!

I saw significant transformation signs today, so I'm going to post some more photos to document it. Today, a couple of the yellow feathers on her wings have started poking their way out and are beginning to emerge over the green. She started molting some of the green feathers on her wings and they're growing back in beautiful yellow color. Also her head seems a little more orange on the top and redder on the sides than yesterday. I think that's because a lot of the new pin feathers unwrapped after this morning's shower.
