As soon as they fledge they start to turn adorable. I'm just not big on the velociraptor look prior to that.

I like the prehistoric raptor look haha. I think it is quite cute! Although...i love the smell of skunks, so I guess maybe my boat sails a little crooked haha

Wow!! What a change! She's beautiful!! Thank you for including the explanations that you do. I understand the 'imprinting age' with dogs, but didn't realize there was a stage like this with parrots, also!

I don't like the term 'imprinting' with birds, because people think of chickens and ducks, who being precocial hatches, immediately bond to the 'mommy' figure. But, yeah, very much the same as dogs. That's why when you have birds like Greys, upbringing is probably the most important thing in their entire long-lived lives. With Greys though, it starts from the second their eyes full open and ends at fledging (weaning can actually come before fledging - especially in Greys). You mess up a Grey baby early on and they keep that their entire lives. Conures? Not so much, but it does play a part.

That's also why I urge people not to be fooled by 'hand-fed' babies... that doesn't mean 'socialized'. And, when someone says socialized.. ask HOW, how long, in what ways, and when it started.
