I have the same play gym as you have for Abbey. I had bought it for the keets at Parrot Palooza awhile ago. They used it along with my parrotlet, but now Meadow doesn't come out since she is alone. I just cleaned it up and added toys to it for Mango. But when I put him on it he falls off like it is too slippery. I put vet wrap around the perches and he seems to be doing better with it. Does it seem slippery for Abbey, or does she do ok with it? He seems to slip off perches a lot, he can't stand on the shower curtain and has trouble on anything even remotely smooth.

Abbey does fine with it. She never falls from anything. Is there any balance problems with his wing being taped or side effects from the meds? When you went to the vet did they do blood work? I can't remember. He might have a calcium or vit D deficiency? I am not an expert on health problems so I am sure someone will correct me.

I thought when I first got it that I would need to vet wrap it but she didn't like it wrapped. So I took it off. She is on it right now drying off after are shower.

They didn't do any blood work. I didn't ask them to do any either since he was already traumatized from being held down and having his wing wrapped. I am waiting until he is healthy to get blood work done.

He does seem a little off balance since his wing is wrapped, but he was clumsy before it was wrapped too. But he doesn't seem to be falling off because he is off balance but rather he slips and can't get his grip on it get back up.

You should get his blood work done soon. With all his other problems something else could be going on. I remember how nasty his old cage and food were.... ehhh. Has he started eating fresh foods? You should put him in sun light if you can. If you live in a house with new windows they could block vit D. So try with a smaller cage sitting outside with him if it isn't cold where you are.

honestly, the slipping part doesn't sound normal. but, it could be due to his wing wrap...i have no idea though as i'm not a vet. so, i highly recommend having him seen by an avian vet again asap and have all the preliminary tests done (CBC, fecal, chemistry). and, have any other disease tests etc. the vet suggests.

i hope it's nothing!!!

He was eating fresh foods but I haven't been giving them to him since he's had the ecollar on. I've only been giving him dry food since I don't know how I would possible clean the collar if he got it messy when eating fresh food. I am trying not to bother him too much but if his collar was getting messy I'd have to towel him every day to clean and that is exactly what I am trying to avoid.

I will call the vet in the morning and see if we can get him some blood work.
