New GCC baby!
Well my new gcc baby had arrived yesterday. He is about 7 or 8 weeks old and fully weaned. So far he has been very curious and hasn't been afraid of anything. He found the food and water very quickly and loves it when I scratch his head. The only thing is he has already started on becoming a velcro bird. Whenever I am in my room, he jumps around the front of the cage trying to get out but he only does that when Im here, when im not, he just sleeps in his tent and I know this because whenever I come back to the room, he is always in there sleeping. How do I stop this behavior because I would like him to know that I can't be holding him every second I'm in my room. Oh and pictures are also attached of course! One, more thing, he does this bobbing thing with his head sometimes, is this normal? He doesn't do it all the time. Name suggestions would be great as well!

Hi & congrats!!! He is beautiful and it sounds like he is settling in wonderfully.
Yes, the head bobbing is normal. Neko does this all the time - my bf is convinced he only does it when we say "Are you happy?" but that is not the case, he does it all the time. I think it DOES mean he is happy though!! My conure is also a velcro birdie but we are working on it. Be sure you let him have ample time alone so he knows that being alone is OK and he is still safe when you are not there. Velcro birdies definitely flatter their owners but they also have to be taught that they have to have alone play time as well. This can prevent behavioral issues later on. Good luck with training and again, congrats!!

Aww, congratts, he is adorable. Boomer is/was a velcro bird also. What I do is try to get him to play on his stand and fly around more. If I leave even to go to the bathroom he freaks if he is out. So I have to take him with me, lol What I do is have some one on one time with him when he is out. Then I switch. I will put him on his stand and he will fly back to me but I keep repeating this. I encourage him to fly around, investigate and it’s working. I will put him on the desk, stands, bed, different areas in the house. So far it’s working.
It’s ok if they are on us but constantly is not healthy.

I'm going to dissent here...
It's a baby. If you aren't answering screams... why not have him with you all the time if you're able? They are flock animals. They want and need to be with their flock. This is your bonding process. Sure, the baby is going to need cage time so if you're gone it doesn't flip out all the time... but if you have the ability to have the baby out while you're home, then cuddle, play, and enjoy!! You can use the time your bird is out with you to play with toys with it... and it will learn then how to play with them.
