My WOOHOO Moment has arrived! My new baby!

Yay! I found a new baby!

I went to the breeder today and fell in looove with this little girl. I took ya'lls advise and let the bird choose me. I was kinda leaning more towards a male yellow sided GCC (I love the name I picked out) but she was the only baby that was really interested in me.

I went up to the cages and stuck my finger in them and waited. I stood there about 2 mins, when I noticed this little girl eyeing me. She was curious and slowly made her way toward my finger...then lightly nibbled it. I fell in love.

I get to bring her home in 2 weeks (I will be out of town all next weekend, and it will give me more time to bird proof my room). The babies she had werent quiet tame, but she is moving Montana (Monty for short) into the house with another little yellow sided that her grand daughter has been taming the past month. So by the time I get her, she will be nice and loveable.

At first she was quiet scared when we took her out of the outdoor aviary and back inside. But after the breeder (who I love, she is so nice) and I held her in a blanket for awhile she came around and was sitting on our fingers and shoulders.

I cant wait to bring her home! She is so freakin cute! She is a 7 month old (she seems so little!) Pineapple GCC.
(Sorry for the crappy pic, cell phone camera)

Thank you! I am so excited! I was there for an hour just holding her.

Her name is Montana (Monty for short). Monty was the name I had picked out if I had gotten a boy (short for The Count of Monty Cristo), but we made it into a girl name. lol

I already changed my sig.

Congratulations!! You must be SO EXCITED! She is GORGEOUS! I like her name, too. Did you pick out her name or was she named Montana already?

I'm curious - what was the name you picked out for the male that you didn't end up getting?

And I agree, she does seem small for a 7-month old. My cinnamon GCC looks bigger and is only 6 months old. She weighs 63 grams. You happen to know what Monty weighs?

BTW, your cell phone camera isn't bad at all. It takes WAY BETTER pics than mine!

Good luck with her!! I'm really happy for you! :)

Monty is gorgeous! She looks like a sweetheart. Congratulations!!!!!
On a side note, age doesn't necessarily make a difference on tameness. I've met a lot of sweet older birds (I know yours is still very young) and some definitely not tame babies. I'm glad you went ahead with meeting them.

Thank you! I am so excited! I didnt want to leave her there!

The name for the male would have been "The Count of Monty Cristo" aka Monty. I still loved the name Monty...my best friend came with me and suggested Montana, so her nick name is still Monty.

I will have the breeder weight her and let me know how much she weighs tomorrow. Generally how much should they weigh around this age?

I have an iPhone, so it better take decent pics! LOL!

Thank you so much! I am really glad I went to see her. She was so nice and she had SO many beautiful birds. She had a box of baby greys and hahns macaws that were ADORABLE! My friend is not a bird lover, but she was holding a baby hahns the entire time we were there.
