It's raining feathers

It's the season, and everyone is discussing, either directly or indirectly, issues related to molting, from behavioral to diet and so on. So... if your bird's in a molt, say Aye.

And if you want, feel free to share a funny photo of your patchy, spotty, pin-filled little dino.

It's going to be a yellowwwwwww xmas over here!

Am I correct in saying that a bird molting is the equivalent of a child teething? Moodyness and all? I can't say I am looking forward to it! lol!

That's what I hear everyone saying. Nara hasn't gotten cranky or moody or anything, at least not with us. In fact she's been cuddlier and more glued to us than usual, but mostly because she wants us to unwrap as many pin feathers as possible for her. So basically she's using us lol. Her call, however, has gotten a little more shrill, because she's that much more anxious to be tended to. maybe her demeanor will change when she's older and goes through another molt, I don't know. I hope not.

There's probably (definitely?) individual variation.

My sun gets so moody and bites us then he will be the sweetest guy! He will rub his head all over you and cuddle so much! probably using us like someone on here said just to unravel those pins. But i like doing it because I know they aggrevate him. But yeah very moody during molting. VERRRYYYY MOODY!

Kiwi's going through his first molt. Colors everywhere! After I finish sweeping, there's many more. Unlike your conures, Kiwi doesn't seem to want my help at all. It probably doesn't help that he's the only bird I've ever helped through a molt!

ETA: lol, I didn't realize this was in the conure section.... I WISH I had a GCC... :)

both of my babies... *sorry about the bad quality pics... irritating camera*

Meenas face is going Yellow (8 months old)... he's GRUMPY, GRUMPY.

Meena's older feathers faded a bit too... the new ones are much darker.

You can see the varying shades of grey better here:

Holly baby is starting to molt, but she's a pearl and you can't really tell all that much.... so here is a pic of her just being coy.. (she's still my lil cuddle bug)

I cannot believe how many feathers they can drop... seems like they should be bald!
