Talking Harley! (Blue Crown)

This is my partner in crime. I have to say i am fairly new to Conures. Harley was given to me by a coworker that had no time or no interest in taking care of this precious Conure!

I am trying my best to care for him and give him a great fam! Im married and i have a three yr old. We all get along!

Sometimes the kid gets close to the bird and the bird kinda tries to get a piece of her! I havent seen a reason as to why the agression but i think he does that with everyone that comes close!

One thing im having a really hard time with is, introducing new things to his cage, Harley does not like that. He will go to a corner and not move. Im trying to get him more toys and even a break thingy so he can shed his beak easily but im sure he wont go near it!

Do Conures get a bit more agressive when shedding their beak layer? Harley seems to.

Please feel free to help me out with any info. Id be more than glad to hear all you guys have to say!

Anyways, here are some pics!

If you look closely at the pic. The frist half of the beak from the bottom up seem lighter in color and it starts to shed. I dont know the conure lingo very well, i guess thats why i am here. Any of you guys conure have that?

ohh, i'm not sure what thats called, but it shouldn't make him act grumpy or anything. On the other hand, if he's molting, he could be grumpy! :)

If you play with the toys with him outside of the cage and let him get usedto them first it might help. Or you can put the toys close to the cage until he gets more comfortable around them and then put them in the cage. Both my birds were terrified of toys at first, but now they want more and more. Usually, the longer they are around them the braver they become. Also, a birds beak is very sensitive and some birds like to have there beaks rubbed while others never will. Beaks also look like they peel layers from time to time and it coud make it more sensitive to touch.

Very Nice BCC!

Quick questions so folks know how to assit you better... Sometimes birds need time to adjust in new homes.

How old is he/she?

How long have you had him/her?

Is he/she hand tame?
