Hey guys D: Sorry for not replying earlier, because I had to rush my bird back to emergency. He started to drip blood again, so we took him back even though they didn't have anyone who knew anything about birds there... blah, it was horrible. All of these cats and dogs that didn't even look sick had priority to my poor Conure... we waited three hours, two of those he spent out the back with other animals. The vet put some wound glue onto him, and I'm starting to thing the nitrate seal was reacting with his skin. The glue calmed him down, so he was asleep when we bought him home. After that, we checked on him every two hours last night, where we found he had pulled a feather by himself... but he hasn't bled since yesterday. Luckily his avian vet is open early today, so we're taking him in to make sure there isn't any broken feathers left, and that he won't get infected. We may need to put his silly little head into a cone to prevent him from touching it. That was the most frightening thing I've ever been through ;_;

I know the feeling. In fact, there's a similar thread in here somewhere about me having a similar panic attack with Nara after I trimmed her nail to get a blood sample for the sexing test. Finally I got so panicked that I filled a bowl with starch (or maybe flour) and made her stand in it till the bleeding stopped lol.
Hope you don't have to go through that again. It's good to learn how to pull out the broken feather quickly to avoid similar incidents in the future. Now I keep all the tools and meds ready if something like that should happen again.

Thanks for the support :] You guys are lovely. We've just come home after taking him to the specialist... bad news, unfortunately. It seems a new feather coming through isn't growing properly, and has lead to an infection. It seems that all the bleeding/broken feathers were coming from him being irritated by the growth. Poor baby. We had to admit him into the hospital because just as the vet was giving him back he started to bleed again. She gave us some Kwik-Stop for future bleeding, we have some antibiotics which we already had from a past chest infection, and he has that twice a day orally, and a pain reliever which he receives twice a day until he appears to stop touching his tail. They didn't put a collar on him because hopefully he shouldn't pick at his tail anymore, but once we get him back tonight, we'll go again Wednesday next week to get him checked out again. I kind of want him to be in a collar, just because I really don't want him touching that. It's very inflamed and quite ugly to look at... I can't imagine how painful it must be. Apparently I have one of the more delicate birds -sigh-. Ah well, the vet is confident that he'll recover. Thanks once again for the support :]

Most likely. I believe that the inflammation of the gland was what caused him to break several feathers, possibly trying to remove it... I don't know. I would like a cone on him, but the vet believes he'd only get distressed. I miss my poor baby :[

Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear that you and your baby are going through all this. Glad you were able to get him seen by a vet and that you've got a plan in place.
Keeping my fingers crossed for you guys. Hope he gets better and you get the infection under control. How scary.

Thanks for the concern :3 We're going to go pick him up in about two hours, and we'll probably be doing night watches again... I just can't believe that his moult has to be that difficult. You'd think that the poor thing could just regrow a feather, but instead the pore is inflammed and god knows what else. I shall update you all again when he gets home.
