Conure Smell....

Hi!
I recently adopted an 11 month old GCC. She was from a home with a smoker so at first her feathers smelt like smoke. After a few showers, she no longer smells like smoke, but like stinky feet!!!! Its not overwhelming, its just if I stick my nose in her feathers and take a big sniff. Im wondering if this is "normal" for GCC or conures in general.
My senegal and my meyers smell exactly the same, however the eclectus that I used to have had a totally different smell, and I remember when I worked in the bird sanctuary different breeds had different smells. When I got her she was seen by an avian vet and had all her blood work and fecals run and she came back in great health. She is otherwise totally normal. Any explaination? I dont mind, shes so adorable anyway

Weird! My meyers and senegal...its hard to explain, but it is a warm, dusty (not house dust but bird dust) smell...I cant even put my finger on it...
Hrm. I have no clue why she would now smell like a stinky foot! My boyfriend thinks it may be some icky residual scent stuck to her feathers from her previous household. This is the bird that was in the FILTHY NASTY cage with one perch and crap-ola food....so maybe hes right, maybe it will take a full molt for her "true" smell to come out...Or maybe she'll always smell like a foot!

When I recovered Nara from the guy that stole her, she smelled like ass for a week. Warm showers with a little bit of baby johnson took it out completely.

Yea I don't think thats normal haha. It will probably go away after awhile, it's probably from her previous home. Pedro has that yummy bird dust kinda smell. I love it.

Yuh. All my birds, 'tiels, sun and GCC, have had slightly different smells from one another but still had the same "bird" undertone. None of it was bad, unless the sun was sick (then it was his poo, not him, that smelled).

Kit, my GCC, smells nice to me. :) Dusty bird is a good description. I bet it's residual from the smoker. After all, once someone smokes in a hotel room you can tell for weeks afterwards. ><
