Question about cotton rope

spent the day reroping boings since Stirling LOVES to kill them. I ordered rope from birdsnest specialties.
they sent...
NatureSoft
1/2" 100% cotton rope is our replacement for Supreme Rope, The cotton rope is the "UNROPE"(unprocessed, unbeached, and totally natural).

I actually ordered differnt rope and didnt know till I looked, it but I think they sent me the wrong stuff.
I actually ordered
100% Cotton Rope
1/2" Cotton Rope
NOTE: It requires approximately 9" for each knot
$0.50 per ft

the rope they shipped has brown flecks in it. not sure what it is? anyone familiar with this or anything you have made, have you used this rope? the brown flecks smugde when I try to pick them off with my nails, and they are through the entire 100 ft length of rope I orderd.
here is the link to them. I dont want to use them on the birds till I know for sure its ok.
The one I received is the 4th picture down..you can see the brown flecks. However I ordered the 7th one (first listed) that is on page two

Product Listing - rope

Hi Lisa i ordered the exact same rope you did from birdsnest, mine has little specks too and it smells like cigarrets (however u spell it) the other things i ordered smelled like cigarret smoke too, i had to wash everything 3 time untill the smell was gone aside from that i LOVE that website.

Cotton Rope

there is a new "supreme" type rope that appears to be the same. we use it on our toys & the brown specks are usually just from the leaves that attach to the cotton balls. Since the rope is not bleached, you can actually see these specks, & the rope should not be a bright white. It does have a distinct odor, but it should not smell like cigarettes. It may be that the people you ordered it from are smokers & this is causing the smell. We do not smoke & I do not allow anyone who smokes to come in contact with our products since it seems to "cling" to everything. Washing the rope should help.

Thank you Beaktweets. The rope does appear yellowish*very light* or off white. The birdsnest specialties have been great with my emails and questions as well.
I am glad I asked, as I am always conserned adding something to my birds habitat that I am not familiar with. As long as I know its safe, (as I am sure it is since it is sold for them specifically) and they wont get sick from chewing it, I am happy with that.
