Gluing a rope perch

Does anyone have any idea how to glue the end of a rope perch back into the plastic end. The rope is in excellent condition it just fell out of the end cap. I tried using my glue gun but it didn't work. I hate to toss it out since their is really nothing else wrong with it.

The cap is made if plastic and it looks like they had plumbers tape on the end of it under the cap and it was glued on.

I haven't had any luck with replacing caps either. I take the ropes and thread them with wire and make boing ropes out of them!

What if you wrap the rope end with that silicone shower tape stuff, and try and get it on there good enough to really stick onto the endcap? Or you could just get some silicone and let it sit until it dries (I cant imagine this wouldn't work). And silicone is supposed to be non-toxic, but the birds probably wouldn't have access to it anyway...

Drill a couple of holes into the sides of the cap, either two or four.

Wrap the end real tight with wire or zip ties, tape the crap out of it then wedge it back into the cap.

Use appropriate length stainless steel screws to hold the rope in place. I'd make sure the screws cover at least half the distance.

Between the wire/zip tie wrap and the tape, that should hold it in place until the birds chew the rope apart.

Hmm many good ideas. My husband actually got it to glue into the cap using a hot glue gun. If it comes out again I will probably just replace it.
