Yay! My first DIY Finished, i'm so proud

Well I finished the first part of my DIY project...The giant ladder for my conure (prob a bit overkill for a conure, but hey...) that will go to form part of his playgym that I am building him...

My husband was sooo proud of me, you know, me being a girl and all .

Thank you very much!

It was a little tricky at times as I did it all by hand and each piece individually. I used a wood boring drill bit to make the holes to fit the dowel and making sure they lined up exactly so the dowel would be straight was a task in itself!

But when hubby woke up from his nap after work yesterday and saw what I'd done, I think he was a little shocked. He'd given me some pointers before going to nap and I think he thought I wouldn't be able to pull it off...Men!

Oh and Jim...we're just smart half the time. We figure why do it ourselves when we can get hubby to do it for us! lmao

That's professional contractor grade work there...

Here's a fellas perspective now that we've seen that: Woman have always had the skills to do this type of stuff. It's just that typically you all are smarter than us fellas and have discovered thru years of training, thought and genectic instinct that we fellas are easily fooled into doing it for you.

:)

Great job. List them on eBay start your own business with that quality job. You'll make a kill'n!

Thanks all...I would've never heard the end of it had I done a bodgy (sp?) job. Besides, I'm sure my little Murph thinks he the size of a macaw...He even tries to puff himself up and make himself look bigger . Geez I could imagine the puffiness he'd show me if I tried to get him to play on a "little" ladder..!

And yes...I'll not even try to deny that I sometimes act just a little "female" in order to have a job done for me I'm not above using my feminine wiles...teeheeeheee

But, when the time comes, I can and I do knuckle down and get done what needs to be done...

Except for...the painting Hubby (aka paint nazi) won't let me near the paint roller for some reason...can't possibly have anything to do with paint splodges on the cornices now can it??? hehe

Good job!!!! My conures chew through the petstore kind too, so I'll have to make one like yours, though I am no wood worker!

Wow, what a great job! I have always done the man stuff around our house. My husband is the brains when it comes to computers, but as far as anything else logical or creative, I am the brains and he is the brawn. I plan it out and set it up and he does the heavy work. That's how we build the chicken coop. I laid it out and did what I could alone and he helped me finish and lift the roof.

I can't wait to get started on my QP playground. Now, all I need is a mitre saw and a table saw, a band saw, and nail gun, a compressor, and some cement, some roofing nails...
