Fixing my hoopball? Any suggestions?

My hoopball is about a month old and is sagging very bad. It's lost most of its shape and looks like a tear drop now. I was thinking of using a short chain inbetween the two eyehooks (top and bottom) to pull it up some...

anybody have any other suggestions on how to fix it? Maui loves it to death.

I believe the original poster of the project now recommends a chain between the top and bottom. SS chain of course. Good luck!

Definately need to run a chain from top to bottom.

Best way to do it is to take the hoops off, drill a hole in the center and attach an eye hook secured with a bolt on the inside. Stainless steel of course.

I run a 3 inch link plastic chain. Great for hanging other toys on. One problem with it though is that you need the very large SS C-links to attach it with due to the width of the 3 inch links. Didn't realize that was a problem until I went to hook it all together.

I've attached some pictures of the smaller one I made for my CAG. This one is using a smaller link chain...which now needs to be replaced since Tutu decided it was fun to snap the 1 inch links.

Even on the smaller one, once the chain snapped it didn't take long to see the shape change a bit. Easy enough to fix though.

I would love to make one of those for my budgies and tiel to play on. How could I modify the idea to make a smaller ball? I have never worked with pvc before but I love crafts and think I could tackle it.

Here's one that is for the smaller birds. I made one only I need to get the vet wrap yet to wrap it.

After reading this thread I guess I will add the chain as well before hanging.

Look what I made

Ran plastic chain through it today and it is definitely looking sturdier!! I already had eye hooks in perfect place so I was lucky :) I hauled it up and tied it as tight as possible, it's still a little warped (Wish I had put the chain there when I first built it) but its not sagging anymore and Maui is much happier.

Once it settles back to the shape it is allowed now, it'll be easier to tighten it up a link or two as needed. If it is the other hoop that is warped, just readjust it to help reshape it.
