so i think u'd use the 1/2" pvc and u probably do not need as much pvc length as u may be building a smaller one i think all together i've used 50ft of PVC but i ordered 65 ft from what i've learnt PREP the PVC first like sanding it, getting the print off, and i highly recommend WASHING your cut pieces(because most placed store the pipes outside) also i think i may may modify the center piece where all the perches stick out and put a thick wooden dowel into it as it is a bit top heavy and leans a tiny bit in the end to secure everything i used SS screwed to anchor the joints together it's pretty hard to find a 5 way connector (i didn't) but u may have better luck if u cannot find a 5 way connected screw a end cap to a 4 way (had to use 2 screws so it won't spin) but if u want it to spin u can use 1 screw or if u want it to spin freely u can drill bigger holes and use a bolt and nut to hold it together errrrrr i dunno what else i cant remember as i built it sometime ago oh yeah MEASURE 5 TIMES and CUT ONCE lols its easier to cut your pieces from a larger piece of PVC than findign u cut something too long and taking 1" off it do everything outside (except putting the parts together) it makes a really big mess and when u are cutting sanding the pvc it will heat up a bit and release some sort of chemical into the air ( yum yum melting plastic smell) well today since i had extra pvc i decided to make ajax a car perch i just need to pick up a end cap to slip on so i can put a eye hook in there to attach a toy on the perch (it's my imitation shower perch) with a toy adapter ![]() |

Thank you babypiggy, those instructions and parts are a big help. I do have lovebirds, 8 of them, so I don't have to worry about them making it keel over, but I may make it a little smaller. BTW, I will be making it outside and doing all the washing and cutting, etc. out there on my deck. I think someone mentioned using alcohol to get the manufacturer's stuff off, and the 1/2" pvc will work just fine. I will look for the 5-way connectors at HomeD, or Lowe's (besides the others) and maybe use some dowels or branches also on the heavier perches. I have a lot to do to make it similar to yours, but I will try my darndest to do it. I'll bet I have some parts to re-cut and all that, but it will be fun to make! I left you a message on the "poop tray" thread, it is a clothes washer tray for underneath the washer, for containing leaks. It is very sturdy and comes in several sizes around $10 USA around 32"x32" or somewhat larger. I have one here and it works well for the washer, Home D. carries it. My email is danceladyjan@comcast.net for the word document.

I tried to get the 5-way connector at HomeD and no luck. But I got most of the other stuff. So I will start working on it and hope to get it together soon. Got that doc? -- it might help me a lot!
