My new homemade play gym with stand

I took it upon myself to make a play structure for my fids. The budgies have been tormenting Oscar the tiel so I figured the needed a neutral place to play. I used 3/4" pvc and vet wrap. I made a swing with braided twine and an apple wood branch.I mounted it to an extra cage stand with tray that I had. It took myself and huby a couple days. I like how it looks but the fids are a little scared of it. chester my brave budgie has been on it a bit but the tiel wants no part of it . I clipped some millet on the top. I will keep trying him. What does everybody think?

It cost me around $65-$70. I used 5 rolls of vet wrap @$2.99 each. I could have used six but I made it stretch. I needed about 25 PVC joints, 20' of pvc piping, eyelets, some hardware, and a perch for the swing. I looked in 7 different stores in two cities for pvc three way corner joints. I could not find anything. I ended up making my own with a L joint and an end cap that we screwed on the bottom. Other than that, it was pretty easy. My hubby had to cut some pieces two or three times till they fit right. Gotta give a cheer for the poor hubbies that get sucked into our fid projects lol .

Very nice job. When you get a chance, post a parts list. I'm sure it would be appreciated.

Great gym! Are any of your birds sensitive to the red/magenta color of the vet wrap? Some birds don't like that color at all. If they still stay away, try covering the vet wrap using a different color. But, it looks great! I also have to ask have your birds been clipped? It may be too hard for them to climb up to the next level -- can they fly? The poop box at the bottom looks really good and will make it easy to clean up. That parts list would be a big help. Good Work!!

Thanks everyone. I have thought about the red vet wrap. They only had those two colors available. I may change it to all green. Oscar has taken minor interest in it today. He is still young and nervous, not to mention clumsy lol. I clipped brocolli and millet on the top perch as a bribe. My birds are all clipped but they are getting some height again. I have had to arrange some perches and a ladder since the picture was taken, to help them move around. Its kind of a work in progress. I would love to let my fids stay flighted bit we have an outside door right in the living room so I cant take that chance. I will try to post the story of the day chester got outside in the appropriate forum.

I will be happy to give you a parts list when I find my "plans" I had. I think the paper may have got lost in the making of the gym but I will take a look for sure.
