would this work/be safe for conures?

I really really want to do an outdoor cage/aviary for Tuc. He loves being outside and I think it would solve our boredome problem nicely. We live on 12 acres so space isn't a problem but $$$$ is. I have been scouring the internet for detailed plans for building your own aviary. I found some plans for sale on ebay for a pvc frame aviary but am not sure it will endure a Georgia summer storm! I also found this plan which looks great and pretty much exactly what I was looking for.... aviary panel construction but it is for finches. Would this be safe for a wood chewing conure? Tuc isn't much of a wood chewer and usually confines that to his toys so would probebly not mess with it but you never know or be too safe. I also looked into buying pre constructed panels to put together myself but it seems all the companies that offer this are in the UK or Australia! I am looking for detailed step-by-step plans if anyone knows of them!

I don't have any plans... I but I did just though of something that you gave me a wonderful idea for. PVC is light... to light for the "weather"... however PVC could mean You/I could in a sense make the entire thing quite "portable"!

You/I could dissassemble it during the stormy seasons (winter up here) so that it endured "longer" and store it.

And I could use simple "tent" stakes to anchor it when it's out on sunny days (just in case).

Thanks for the idea!!!!! I know what my spring project will be!

Yes, but make it bigger, and use heavier lumber like 2x4's, and he may chew through the plasitc mesh, so use metal. i like the double door idea. anchoring it with stakes is a great idea too.

Thanks, I was thinking the wood might be too flimsy plus I would need 6 doors to make a decent size. I just need to figure out how to make a wood frame then attatch the wire as shown. I want it for outdoors so I was going to use something else besides plexiglass and mesh, maybe small chicken wire or something.

Hello,
What I use when I want to take my birds outside when powerwashing cages in the summer.
I watch for sales in the Winter time and get them for under $40.00 sometimes cheaper.
Screen tents that you put over picnic tables for camping. Don't have to worry about bugs that way, put my birds on stand.

I am planning to build a small (like 8'x8'x8') aviary once I get my own house (which will be in a LONG time because I am only 15 haha).... actually I want to have like three or four animal "enclosures" in my future backyard... I'm gonna make it like a zoo... I'm gonna have an enclosure for my green iguanas and another one for my turtles and tortoises! It's gonna be great! I'll post some pictures in 10 years :D
I would do it in my parents backyard but I don't think they'd let me (the aviary not the other ones just yet :])
