Green Grass ~ perches, climbing matt...

Yesterday I collected some grass for my birds & was intrigued with the tougher stems. Thought i'd experiment weaving a mat ....later made some perches. I used the leaves to tie it together.

Here's the mat ~ little devils are having a great time today chewing it to pieces or tenderizing it.

They worked it for hours ~ had a lot of fun.

Here are some more shots - some fun ones & the perches i made for Rio's cage; they do well inside & outside the cage.

Well the thing did look great when i finished it but they kind of wrecked it - but that's what it was for - I'm going to try another - this time I'm adding some Willow for strength.

All small birds should be able to enjoy this idea.

Willow added

So here's what happened:

grass & willow laid out on a towel on our bed - i had washed it.

Laker flew by when i was documenting the process - Rio too - this photo is a fluke.

It worked out great - however the odour the willow gave off - well it was very acidic/sour & my nose rebelled after a bit - so it is air drying out on the balcony.
