Angry Brooder by AveyInc.

I bought a brooder from avey inc, have used it for 2 weeks and the digital dial will not change the temp anymore. My babies are 2 weeks old and I'm worried. I've read about useing an aquarium as a brooder, but not completely sure how to do it. Can someone please walk me threw how to it?

I can't call the company until tomarrow

thanks

I have used the plastic criter container for babies and it worked well. Sit one end on a heating pad with the pad going up the side of the container. If you can put it against the wall to hold the pad against the glass. Usually the low setting keeps it warm enough but you might have to start on med since the aquarium has a thicker bottom. But if your chicks are still with the parents just leave them for now. They don't have to be pulled at exactly 2 weeks.

You can just put the heating pad under the aquarium on low - get a thermometer and lay it on the floor (digtal big numbers best). I like to line the floor with paper towel and fleece. I have a homemade brooder and dont have trouble at all. In it I use a ceramic reptile bulb.

Good luck getting Avey to fix it right away. My mom had one of her Aveys go out a week and a half ago (not sure what was wrong with it). She called Avey and spoke to the owner. He said that she could send it in for repair, but they were going out of town for 3 weeks and it would be at least 2 weeks after that before she would have it back. She said that he didn't seem too concerned or seem to care. She went ordered a Grumbach instead to replace it. Avey lost all of her business.

Got ahold of them.
the problem with mine was the dial control quit working and I couldn't change the temp up or down. I didn't have time to send it back and wait forever, so we got the part number and ordered the part ourselves. BTW that little control is only 5 bucks to order
