Good wood for birds...

I bought a 2x4 to make some toys with, I want to make sure I am good. I got a natural piece not treated, but not sure if pine, cypress, or redwood. All good.

Where do you get the wood? I was not sure if it was at a place like Home Depot or a local store. With a new macaw I know that I will be needing a good amount of it. It has to be cheaper to do it this way and make toys than to always buy new toys. Thanks!

We go to Home Depot. Just a suggestion... drill the holes first before you cut into "beak size" pieces. Yes, its a whole bunch cheaper.

Thank you for the tip on drilling holes first and where to get it.

Ya, I got mine at home depot in the untreated section. Just not sure what exact wood it is. It doesn't look like pine to me. I use to do construction and I think it is cypress. I am sure that is ok for the macaw correct.
