How did you secure the rope at the top and bottom? I have always wanted to make these but never been able to figure out the end pieces.

Wow! That looks pretty cool. But I'm with Monica here...how do you secure it so your macaws don't devour it? Chief's favorite part to destroy on a boing is the top and bottom ends. We're doing good if they last 5 days with her!

Very cool! I hope you post pics of the next one. You're going to have to give a class in rope wrapping. I have the hardest time making swings, boings, etc with rope. It doesn't stay in place for me.

Love the effect with the fleece strips! I can see those when you finish knotted up with beads, etc. Fun for a chewing bird!

For the upper endcap I secured rope to the wire then fed the wire thru a plug. The end of the rope and the top wire was secured inside the plug with Gorilla glue. The plug was forced into a coupler. A couple of coils of rope, some more Gorilla glue then finish off the wrapping.
If you do it right there is no way for the bird to get to the Gorilla glue until significant damage has been done. For the bottom the wire was coiled back on itself, the rope twisted until nearly the end, forced thru the loop in the wire then twisted down to tighten it up. This is the first one I've made and I have a few design flaws. The boy (African Grey) will get to enjoy this one the way it is. I'll get busy working on the new and improved design as time permits. I need to make one for a little girl before I make him a new one. Fair is fair. FYI. I recently discovered Gorilla glue. READ THE DIRECTIONS BEFORE YOU USE IT. It is not like ordinary glue!!!
