PVC playstand, do you use glue to hold it together?

I am going to have my boyfriend make me a playstand for my eclectus and he is wondering what do you use to get the pvc to stay together, do you glue it? I am guessing glue is bad for a parrot and should not be used.

Mine just fit together like tinker toys, except I used a mallet to make sure everything fit snug.
My pvc pipe playgym.

I use stainless steel screws to hold together any PVC that I won't need to disassemble for cleaning later.

You can use the PVC cement as long as it is on the inside of the pipe. Also (some common sense here) use it in a well ventilated area away from the bird and allow it to dry and cure completely before putting the bird on it. The PVC cement odor may linger for awhile.

Keep in mind that you may want to take it apart for cleaning and/or storage or whatever so the less cementing you do, the better off you may be. I'm not an Ekkie person but I don't think they weigh so much that they'd loosen all the joints the minute they flap their wings.

I used no glue on mine, the pipe holds snugly into the connectors on its own.

I have made two in the past year. The first one i didnt use anything to hold it together and every weekend when I take it outside to clean it, at least one piece comes apart. The one I made this weekend (picture below) I used stainless steel screws to hold it togther and I love it! I am going to add the screws to the first one.

I've done it all the above ways. lol If you glue, make sure it stays on the inside, only put it in the fitting, not on the pipe. You will need to wait a couple days to bring it home as well.

My favorite way to hold them together is with wood dowels. Home Depot sells packs of them in the tool section. Put the pieces together as they are wanted, drill threw and pop in the dowel.

The bottom board is a dry erase board from lowes. It works great as the base and very easy to clean.
