tiel sized playstands

We got home from vacation today and I'm running around cleaning and loving on the fids. We have decided to rehome a pair of budgies to a friend who loves the little guys. Tweety the tiel will be moving to a new cage that is not easily moved, so I need to make a stand for him. I am wanting to make one that can sit on the hearth where he is used to hanging out. I made a great stand for the bigger guys, but need an idea for him since he is so small. anyoen want to share their pics?

What about a big piece of tree of the right size for where you want to site it, with a nice arrangement of branches held in one of those heavy wrought or cast iron xmas tree holders? I use one for my BE2. If the bit of tree isn't quite right you can put extra branches on by screwing them on. When the bird has chewed off bark, bits of tree and is bored, or it's too dirty, you can get another chunk of tree.

ETA: Sorry I didn't realize this was an older thread :)

I just used 1/2in PVC... didn't cost $15 in building parts... (I already had a pipe cutter, those cost maybe $10)

-5 or 10 ft pvc pipe
-lots of connectors... mainly T's, elbows, and a few end caps.
-sand paper
-pipe cutter/ hack saw
-SS eye hooks if you want.

No glue needed... and you can pop it apart to clean & rebuild it anytime, any way you want.

Great thing about PVC is you can custum build it ANY way you can imagine. I just cut up a bunch of it in standard 4in, 5in, & 7in peices and went to town putting it however.

Ran the drimmel down some of the pipe a few times to roughen it up , added vet wrap over most of it ($2 a roll, took 2), a little sisal, some SS eye hooks... and I've added an uncoiled Rope boing around the top... that's my fids favorite part!

1/2 a yard of fleece & a 7 or 10in wood embroidery hoop. Easy Easy Easy.

Some of my past playstands (hanging and table top):
