Paperbark Gum
For those of you who live down this way.
I use Paperbark Gum branches for some of Tweety's perches. As it has a parchment like bark laid in very thin sheets, Tweety can grip it better with her poor 'not quite right' feet. On top of that it makes a very good natural ripping item for your birds. Paperbark is a hardwood so even if there do rip all the bark off, they will not be able to damage the wood. I have added a pix of Bark, Fruit, and a flower Bud, the only one she missed. ![]() And a vid of Tweety getting stuck into some fresh Tops of the Paperbark gum. YouTube - Tweety in seventh heaven. And the Paperbark Gum will flower about to flower here in Auckland in the next few weeks. So if you are looking for a natural treat, look for one of these trees and prune a small branch. I know it was used as a street tree in place's around Auckland. I am lucky I have access to one right by my house. I do the same with Bottlebrush now and then.

Dusty loves the paperbark as a shredder, we can do this as the first tree down our drive is a paperbark which gets "attacked" by the local cats, so I have to tidy-up the long bits they dislodge. She also enjoys the buds, blossom, fruit and nuts off the bottle brush, we have 4.
