I Fixed it!!.. WEeeee Hoooooo

Mo, My CAG, LOVED his rope perch, a little too much :-).. He in short order chewed thru it !!

Since these things aren't cheap, and really WHAT IS were birds are concerned, I coudln't just throw it out...
wound the chewed up rope around the middle wire again and wrapped a cheapo $ store "ace" type bandage to wrap around it and make it use able again!!!.. secured it witha HUGE skirt pin that I dulled he point!

He looked at it sideways and then walked to the end that was still original rope.

LOL, can't blame a girl for trying!

Just an FYI There are horror stories of pins and such dull or not getting jammed through the lower mandible. It may not be safe and I would remove the pin for safety reasons. If ace is like vet tape and has no toxic glues, you should be able to leave it with no pin. It has a self adhering quality that is not toxic.

Even with a dulled point, I agree. It's shiny... and what bird doesn't like shiny? Plus it would be easy for a bird to open a safety pin. Do you have any vet wrap to put over the ace wrap? Or sisal or jute rope? We got jute rope cheap from a fabric store.

well I DO have to say it's a VERY BIG safety pin, I'd say about 3 inches long!.. I'm not worried about him opening it, he doesn't see to be interested in shiny things lol, altho ya never know thats why I dulled the point.

I REALLY need to find my card reader to post pics of stuff!!!!..... I"ll get on that SOON!

vet wrap... is NOT cheap, (3-4$ a roll) and mostly latex, which in my MANY yrs of horse experience, can get gummy and sticky, it also ISN"T washable, and if it' s been on a while it tends to "melt" to itself..... Not fun.

I'll stick with the $ store ace for now. LOVE the $ store for bird toys!!!!!
