Making a playroom

My U2 Sammy prefers to spend most of his time in his bedroom where his cage is. He comes out 2x a day for several hours but likes to go back to his room and play. Since he discovered how to unlock his cage the wallpaper is torn off the walls, 2 door frames chewed and a fouton cushion chewed. All last night. He is very exhausted this morning, poor, poor bird! Grr.
Anywhoo, we were going to put some hanging toys over his cage and get a climbing rope. We were talking last night how to go about running some ropes across the room for him to climb and swing on. What kind of rope should we use, what diameter for his size and where can we get this rope? Any suggestions would help. Thanks.

What a little rat! All that damage in one night I am not surprised he is tired today!

Whatever you do, make sure you use the joists in the roof! Plasterboard will not stand up to a bouncing cockatoo!

I have a kind of aerial ladder rigged up in my room for my birds to scurry from their cages to my bed and desk. I used sisal rope and stick on coat hooks because my birds are all light. I think you would need to screw in metal hooks and I don't know what size rope you would need for a U2, no idea how heavy they are...

Something he might enjoy is an atom ball. Maybe a large one made from strong hoola hoops? Look in the DIY section for instructions and pics of these.
