Fast growing bird-safe trees?

Question of the day

Are there any super-fast growing house and bird safe trees that I could put next to my bird cages. Maybe have 2 or three that I could rotate in and out? I'm thinking bamboo, but its not really a tree.

Bamboo is good, and safe for birds. I have a clump in my garden and just cut some today to put in the cages. An Areca palm, a fairly common house palm, is safe and fairly easy. I'm assuming you have good light from windows in the room? Otherwise plants won't be happy if they get no natural light. If you do have light, rotating can work, except in the winter where you live, it's way too cold to put them outside!

Cajeput is a good fast grower, plus it makes great perches.

Lillypilly (Sygium species) are great, they cope with diminished light, grow fast, and bonus grow edible red berries. You can get either full sized ones or dwarf versions. I've just put in a Fingerlime, a version of natural citrus tree that produces finger length limes (edible) as fruit.

The regular Palm houseplant and the corn plant are two good ones you can find just about anywhere tht sells housplants. My birds chew on the palm fonds that reach to their cages and the Corn plant is safe too and can get quite tall. Here is a better list for you...
