Pluck No More
Any one ever used a product called Pluck No More? I have been using it for a few weeks no. My Lexi had plucked for a year. I have not seen any feathers in her cage for over two weeks now. I have made many changes in her life. Diet, cage size, toys, exercise, and attention. Daily showers and sunshine. I am not sure what is working. I have had her for 6 months and she came from a Petstore.

I have also had excellent results with King's Pluck no More. I have a female seasonal plucker who will defeather mid September and not stop until all of her blue feathers are gone and all feathers from her chest and under her wings. It almost caused me to rehome her, for I was afraid my macaws were driving her nuts.
I have used this for the last few weeks and though I occasionally find a feather, its NOTHING like what preceeded it. I have also used Avicalm with the same results. I think that both supplements somehow turn off the plucking mechanism in Ekkies. I did not have the same results with my BG macaw however. I think it depends on WHY they pluck as to whether or not you will notice any real results. I must say, I've been impressed.

I just started using it and it doesn't seem to help so far. I was wonderig if better to use it directly instead of adding to water. He takes it with no trouble from an eye-dropper and I could be sure he's getting the whole amount daily. These are the months he totally chews his feathers, but is still so sweet. Please reply directly to me if you can as I don't get on Birdboard often as I would like Thanks Ekkie Last edited by Ekkie; 11-11-2005 at 05:08 AM. |

I'd be curious as to whether or not gender makes any difference. I have 3 birds here who have, on occasion, resorted to plucking. One is my Ekkie, one is my CAG and the third my BG. All are hens. My CAG stopped as soon as I figured out what she was stressed about. I didn't need to add anything to her food or water. My BG has simply continued no matter what I do. My Ekkie will, as stated in the earlier post, seasonally pluck. She stopped within 10 days of giving Avicalm and Pluck No More (not at the same time).
Over the Thanksgiving holiday, I had houseguests and 50 hot rods on my front lawn. Within 24 hours, my Ekkie pulled a bunch of blue feathers. I started her back on Avicalm, and she ceased once again. So, I think it has more to do with WHY they pluck. If its about hormones and stress, the supplements seem to help. If its organic or genetic, the supplements are likely a waste of money. JMHO
