Hello, I have a SI Male Eclectus who will say about anything you say to him. He sings row row row your boat from start to finish along with twinkle twinkle little star. all the above words and phrases and then some. he is very smart and picks up words quick that has the letters t,s,p,k,n,w,d,g,v,b in the word or starting with these letters. So when I teach him a new word or phrase I only spend 5 min or so and then stop and give a treat, anything longer then that for most birds would be too long. I spend about 15 min total each day just saying the sme word or phrase and by the next day before taking off his covers, i can hear him saying the new words. Try it, and let us know how that works out for you. Thanks JJones1719

My echo is a 10 month old SI , he mostly chatters in his own language but he is starting to pick up on the real words.

He says " WHAT" most of the time. He picked this up from me,
I say that about 100 times a day answering my kids when they say "mamma"
He yells it most of the time, unlike his other words that are soft and cute.
OOPS!

He also says, Hello and HI.

And his newest words are " GOT YOUR BEAK" Inspired by luigi the eclectus on you tube. After watching the video several months back, I started playing that game with him. last week, he started saying it, over and over and over.
Its so cute and we laugh every single time.

our eclectus, sonny, is just a year old... he has started to talk quite a bit... mostly he says 'hello'... 'hello, papa' 'hello mama' 'hello bubba' 'hahaha' -- one day i was the only one home and as i was stepping out of the shower, i heard 'hahaha!'... scared me to death and thought someone was laughing at me... until i realized it was sonny... another time he was in his cage which was partly covered... i had my back to him feeding my canaries--i heard a small little soft 'hello?'--he was peeking out through an opening in the cover trying to get my attention... he whistles several different notes, and sometimes screeches... he'll growl when i put him in his cage and he's not ready to go back in... he grooms our dogs and tries to eat our maltese's little black nose... i heard him say 'tickle tickle' once... he jabbers when he's by himself in the cage, and when he's at his perch next to the window... he's just like one of the dogs... if we leave him out in the bird room (spare bedroom), soon we hear a flutter and then a click click click on the kitchen linoleum as he flatfoots over to check out what the rest of the family is doing...sorry to blabber on and on about him... but we just enjoy the heck out of him!

My red sided eclectus, Luigi, talks ALL day long. He is such a chatter box!! He is 8 1/2 months old, and has been talking since he was 4 months old. He knows quite a lot of words and sayings, but these are his favorite things to say:

come here!
peek-a-boo
i love you
hello
hi baby
weegie weege (his nickname)
gotta go
night night

He also makes the sqeeky dog toy noise over and over and over! He talks non-stop when I play the piano. He sits on my shoulder and "sings" with his funny eclectus language. He makes up his own words and adds "weegie weege" and "come here" into everything he says. He loves to chatter when we have the tv on, and he loves, loves, loves to laugh!! There is nothing cuter than a laughing parrot.

I love the way he cocks his head when he talks to me, as if he really knows what he is saying. He will say "how are you?" and cock his head like he is really curious how I am. He is just so adorable. I love him to pieces!!

My red sided male (will be 2 on July 2) talks a lot. He probably says 100 words. He started trying to talk the night I got him. He was 3 1/2 months. He knows what he says. He makes his own sentences with the words used correctly. He's very intelligent. He picks up new words regularly so I'm very careful about what I say around him. I didn't get him for speaking ability but because I fell in love with him. He picked me actually. I thought I wanted a female....silly me. lol

I think mine is getting ready to start talking. She says something that sounds like hello but I think its part of ekkie language that we are adopting as an imitation of our own. SHe is doing a lot of ekkie scrabble lately so just waiting for some human words!! she's about 4 months old.

Vankarhi, you haven't added Gunny your male ekkie or Alex your alexandrine to your signature yet, or is it cos they're breeders?

My 3 year old red sided ekkie Scarlett, does not say a word, she is very quiet she will wolf whistle and do little sighes during the day, but that is all.

Will this change as she settles in as we have only had her for 2 weeks on Friday. I just can't believe how quiet she is. She will also only interact with anyone if they have food. Other than that she will sit on her perch flapping and preening.

We have a nine year old Miss Scarlett. She says almost anything and surprises you with how she uses them. My favorite is she will make a knocking sound then say, "Who is it?" Then "--body's home go away" Not quite sure where she got it from but my dad stopped by one evening when I wasn't home and Scarlett greeted him from inside when he knocked on the door using that same line. Since her voice sounds like mine he thought I was joking with him before letting him in, he finally after standing there about ten minutes figured out it was the bird because she started saying ahh aren't you a good girl !

She also hollers at my youngest son and he always comes running, she will say RYAN get in here!! Time to gooooo! He comes running and then realizes its the bird. She laughs every time he gets in there, he's finally starting to check and see if it was me before he comes running!
