how well does you ekkie talk?

I just thought that it would be fun to find out how well everyone's ekkie talks..so I will go first, my female solomn ekkie is 11 1/2 months now and I have had her since she was two weeks old. She is a sweet heart. I have heard her say tickle tickle, hello, hello max (my GC) and I think pretty bird. Now she mostly talks early in the morning and only when she nows that no one is watching (I think this is normal for when they first start to talk) every once in a while she will say hello in front of someone. Other then that, she does not scream, nor is she very loud. She has a very soft voice and that is why I named her cry baby. lol. I can't wait to hear about other people's ekkies

Scarlett talks quite a lot. She chatters to herself in the morning, all through the day, and at night sometimes even after I cover her up!

She also LOVES to talk to women. If I am doing the dishes in the kitchen with her, she will talk and whistle continuously at me. When men are around, though, she clams up and hardly says a word.

She says lots of things, some of which are: Scarlett, pretty bird, step up, hello, hola, good girl, let go, Oscar (cat name), SoCo (cat name), what are you doing?

My Miss Scarlett is still pretty young, only 5 1/2 months old! When I got her, the handfeeder said that she said hello, but I have yet to hear that actual word. She has plenty of chatter to say, eclectus language, I like to call it! She is also very quiet unless I am not feeding her fast enough . So we shall see what she will learn time, but just the eclectus language thus far, either way it is fine with me!!! I love her if she talks or not!

Skye is a 17 month old female red sided ekkie. I have had her since she was 4 months old. She was talking within 3 weeks of owning her and everything except "hello" she has learned from here. She says

hello
hello Bo
what ya doing
whats your name
how'd that happen
whats wrong now
whats going on
ROY
RHIANNA
UMMA (Summa the staffy)
Yuuuk (she is toilet trained and this is what I say to get her to go toilet)
I love you, kiss kiss (I have heard that a few times)
good night (heard that on one night when I forgot to say it)
Good girl
Youre a good girl
You ARE a good girl (she really loves the good girl ones. LOL)
WHAT!!! (says this especially if being ignored at dinner time)
I'm sorry (have not heard that one for a while)
step up

She knows hello is a greeting and will normally greet people or animals with that.

When singing old mcdonalds farm, she sings eeh eye eeh eye eeh eye, then "woof woof" (because dog usually comes first on my farm. LOL)

When asked what does a puppy dog say, she will quite often answer "woof woof"

One day we were playing hide and seek with my 3 year old son. We hid him behind Skye's cage. We were asking "where are you" and my little son was saying "i here". Skye turned around look down at Caillean and said "hello, hello, i here" then laughed at him (oh yes she laughs too). We cracked up laughing as she dobbed on him.

One day I put her in the lounge in front of the fishtank. I have had this tank for years, but she said "wow" like she had never seen it before.

Another day I was bashing frozen passionfruit out of the ice cube makers into the sink. Skye was on the verandah, she could see and hear me. she said "ouch".................so I guessed I was making so much noise she figured someone must have been hurt.

Another day I was taking her cage outside to clean when she said "what ya doing?" I answered her with "cleaning your cage", then realised I was talking to my bird.

She whistles like my mobile phone and also my husbands and rings like the landline phone and copies bird noises from around here, even the cockatoos.

She screams like my littlest boy. One day I heard a serious scream and thought OMG he has really hurt himself this time, i literally flew upstairs to see what was wrong, expecting to see blood or something. He was happily watching sesame street..................the culprit was red and blue. LOL. It took me about 10 mins to calm down because I thought it really was my little man.

Rhianna has come into me and said "what do you want mum" and I have looked at her and said "what", she said "you called me" and I said "no I didn't" she looked at me rolled her eyes and said "it was that bird again". LOL I could see the funny side to that.

Another time another one of our kids yelled out to me and said, do you want Summa? I said no it must have been the bird calling her. LOL

I can't wait for the day the dogs realise Skye is calling them.............it will crack me up.

Most of what Skye says (and she does say more than what I wrote) she has picked up from just listening. When I try to teach her something you can bet she has picked up something else.................not what I tried to teach her. I asked my best friend not to swear in front of her (I thought Skye had picked up a few "choice" words) but luckily she has not perfected and seems to have forgotten those ones. Probably because it is not something regularly said around here. (not that I don't swear.............just not all the time. LOL)

I got my eekie 2 weeks ago. He is a red sided male just 3 months. He caws like a crow most of the time. Just before he goes to sleep he will coo and make sweet sounds. When he is in my bathroom and on his cage playing with a certain toy he will growl.

I am now owned by 7 Eclectus 3 have been with us since they were weaned and the other 4 were rehomed within the last year. Most of them talk so I think because they are closet talkers. The conversation they have is very interesting as they call each others names as well as my husband
Elliott. It seems as though they know when the right time to start calling him and how to annoy him. They also call him and start laughing as they're calling him using my laugh.

Mine is not a talker so much as she is a chatterer. her vocabulary is quite limited, but the range of (appropriate) noises she makes is quite vast. She makes appropriate excited noises (WOO!!) confused (huh?) and mad (UGH!!) noises. And uses them correctly.

Other than that, she says Hello, Hello Scarlett. "MOM!!! - What??" Up, up!, Good night. and I love you.

She also makes that clicking noise to call us over. . . much like you would use to call a dog or horse.

She has me trained, let me tell you.
